Product detailed description

The kit of the famous American tank Sherman M4A3 in the largest and most detailed scale of 1:28. The assembled model has opening hatches, a rotating turret with an adjustable sight, and road wheels equipped with rubber tires, just like the real tank. Under the opening hood at the rear of the hull is a Ford engine. The handles hold tools, jerry cans, a toolbox, a towing chain, and a sandbag. The tank tracks are functional, and the model is easy to control on a non-slip surface. It also includes a figure of the tank commander, who seems to have stepped right out of the movie screen, an M1 rifle, an M3 submachine gun, and a block with a description.

Interesting facts:
» The M4 Sherman tank was produced in many versions from 1942 to 1945 in 6 different American and British factories.
» In addition to many modifications, the tank was also produced with a square (welded) or rounded (cast) hull. Crews preferred the cast version because they believed in higher resistance to enemy fire. This fact was never independently verified.
» The last pieces were retired from the US Army only in 1974.
» A total of 49,234 Shermans were produced in various versions, of which 1,690 were the M4A3 version.
» In addition to many upgrades, versions such as bulldozer, pontoon carrier, recovery tank, mine clearer, and flamethrower were created.
» The tank had ammunition stored in water with glycol to reduce the risk of fire in case of a hit.
» Only the Soviet Union produced more tanks, specifically the T-34 model.
» The Sherman tanks were also in the arsenal of the Czechoslovak Independent Armored Brigade, consisting of young men who managed to escape before the occupation.
» This armored brigade replaced the British group at the siege of the fortified port of Dunkirk at the turn of August and September 1944.
» More than 4,000 pieces were also delivered to the Soviet Union as part of aid.
» Among the Red Army crews, the tank was very popular for its high reliability. The steel tracks of the T-34 lasted approximately 2,500 km of driving, while the rubberized ones on the Sherman lasted more than double. However, the Sherman also had weak points. The driver's hatch opened so unfortunately that when the turret was turned, the barrel of the gun could hit it, and you can probably imagine what happened when the 20 kg heavy hatch fell on the driver's head.
