Americký stredný tank Sherman M4A2E8 | COBI 3118 | World War II | 1:35
Building set of the legendary American tank Sherman M4A2 Easy Eight 76 W, known also from the battles of World War II. The model offers a lot of details: opening hatches, a rotating turret with an adjustable gun elevation, rescue logs on the sides, an ammunition box, and fuel canisters at the back. Under the rear cover, you will find a GM engine. Functional tracks allow smooth movement of the model on a non-slip surface. The package also includes tank crew figures – if they remind you of characters from the famous movie FURY, it's purely coincidental.

Tank M4 Sherman was produced from 1942 to 1945 in six different American and British factories. There were versions with welded and cast hulls – crews preferred the cast one, although higher durability was never confirmed.
In total, over 49,000 Shermans were produced, including 1,690 units of the M4A3 version. Besides combat tanks, there were variants like bulldozer, pontoon carrier, mine clearer, or flamethrower. Ammunition was stored in water with glycol to reduce the risk of fire after a hit.
The tanks were also used by the Czechoslovak independent armored brigade during the siege of Dunkirk in 1944. More than 4,000 units were delivered to the Soviet Union, where crews appreciated their reliability – Sherman’s rubberized tracks lasted more than twice the kilometers compared to T-34 tracks.
Sherman also had weak points: for example, the unfortunately placed driver's hatch, which could be hit by the gun barrel, and if the hatch fell, it could have unpleasant consequences for the driver.

From the memories of the commander of the Soviet 46th Guards Tank Brigade Colonel Dmitry Fyodorovich Loza:
,,Another disadvantage of these rubberized tracks was that on a lightly frozen surface, the tank slid like a fat cow. We had to wrap barbed wire or anything that increased traction around them. Later, America supplied us with special track blocks with spikes. There were fourteen of them for each tank. This ultimately proves one very positive thing about American vehicles. Whenever Americans found something unsatisfactory on their tanks, they quickly rectified it and came up with a solution.
