COBI Building Set VW Patrol Boat River MK II (COBI-2238)

Product detailed description

Patrol boat, riverine (also known as patrol boat, river or PBR) was a very characteristic American boat used for patrolling rivers and transporting troops during the Vietnam conflict. It featured a very shallow draft, partly due to its fiberglass hull, and a water jet propulsion system that allowed it to navigate in shallow waters. The boat reached a maximum speed of 28.5 knots (53 km/h 32 mph). The crew consisted of four soldiers. The captain of the boat was usually a first-class petty officer, with a gunner, mechanic, and sailor on board. The lack of armor on the boat was compensated by its relatively large firepower. Equipment usually included a twin-mounted M2HB 0.50 12.7 mm on the bow and one M2HB on the stern. Additionally, the crew had access to a grenade launcher and a set of M16 rifles. There were also more powerful configurations. The boats were used by the US Navy until the 1990s. They remain popular among civilians.

This is definitely one of the most anticipated sets of 2021. It perfectly combines the features of a collectible model with an extremely interesting toy. From a set of 615 COBI building blocks, you can build an iconic American patrol boat in an excellent 1:35 scale. The model has been faithfully reproduced from high-quality bricks, complemented by a special fabric used to make the characteristic PBR canopy! The flat bottom of the boat is equipped with discreet wheels that allow the boat to roll on a flat surface during play, such as a carpet, office, or floor. The fun is even better!

On board, there is armament in the form of block M2HB rifles. The model includes a complete crew of four soldiers with accessories and personal weapons. Fans of COBI bricks will surely notice, in addition to the fabric, another novelty, which is the new pattern of the waving flag! Once built, the boat measures 28 cm in length. It is a great addition to the VIETNAM WAR collection. The brick model of the patrol boat requires no gluing or painting. All graphic elements and inscriptions are printed on the bricks in the form of very durable prints that do not wear out or fade when exposed to sunlight, water, or even very intense play. No stickers were used in the model. The set will certainly bring a lot of joy to the youngest fans of bricks as well as adult enthusiasts of history and naval design. The model of the patrol boat will definitely look spectacular on a collector's table, as well as in the room of every teenager and child.
