História a technológia tanku Tiger II
Ferdinand Porsche from Vratislavice nad Nisou contributed to the development of the tank, designing an advanced combined diesel-electric drive. However, the standard Henschel solution with a Maybach HL230 P30 gasoline engine with an output of 515 kW eventually went into serial production.
The Tiger II tank had an exceptionally high-quality optical sight, allowing precise shooting at long distances. Its main weapon, the KwK 43 L/71 cannon, could penetrate 180 mm of armor at a distance of 500 meters.

The Royal Tigers were first deployed in August 1944 on the Eastern Front.
Despite its strength, 11 tanks were destroyed or immobilized during the first days of combat.
The Tiger II matched the Soviet IS-2 and the American M26 Pershing in battle.
A total of only 492 units were produced due to complex manufacturing and high costs.
In May 1945, as the war was ending, a group of Tigers was still fighting in the Czech Republic, with one getting stuck on a flooded meadow and becoming a local attraction.

„We knew well that everything was lost, but our determination not to surrender Berlin without a fight drove us forward. While the Soviets pounded on the city's gates, our Köenigstiger was dispatched to defend the train station in the direction of Anhalter Bahnhof. The task was to prevent the enemy army from destroying several T-34s and force the Russians to retreat. However, that evening a ricochet hit the right track of our tank. The charge against the advancing red hordes ended after a few meters when we hit a mine hidden under a thick layer of dust and small debris, nothing happened, but for us, it was a bitter end.
