The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet-powered fighter aircraft used in combat! Manufactured in Germany, it entered service in 1944 as a fighter. Bomber and reconnaissance versions were also developed. German pilots nicknamed it Sturmvogel and among the Allies, it was known as Turbo. The late introduction of the aircraft into service meant that it did not play a significant role during the war. The Messerschmitt Me 262 recorded 900 kills with 100 aircraft losses. This aircraft is inspired by the model located in the Deutsches Museum in Munich. It was piloted by Hans Guido Mutke, who flew it to Switzerland in the last days of the war, where it was interned. Years later, the machine returned to Germany as a magnificent museum exhibit.
