Hydrophobic surface treatment of textile materials is ensured by chemical treatment mostly already during the production of materials. This treatment is one of the conditions for waterproofness/water resistance of materials. It is the first level of protection of the surface layer against soaking and soiling, under which there is a waterproof membrane.

Hydrophobic treatment increases the functionality of elastic knits and single-layer breathable materials. It gives them resistance against external moisture and increases protection against their soiling.
