LENSES: CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Bronze Mirror

With these lenses, colors are evenly distributed based on wavelength strength to enhance contrast. Additionally, they reduce blue light (HEV) to allow greater color saturation in red, yellow, and green areas; define and enhance yellow shades; and reduce glare on reflective surfaces.

Modern CAPTIVATE technology further refines visual sharpness and color perception. The human eye is not capable of distinguishing the entire color spectrum. Individual colors blend, and these color transitions (especially between blue, green, and red) cause problems with visual sharpness. CAPTIVATE lenses can separate these transitions, thereby increasing contrast and detail sharpness.

ANSI HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT TEST - Bullet resistance test
Glasses certified according to the ANSI HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT standard must withstand the impact of a 6.35 mm diameter steel ball shot at a speed of 164.6 km/h. The lens must not shatter and must remain firmly seated in the frame, and the frame must remain undamaged.

HARD COATING
Scratch protection for lenses thanks to a strong and durable layer.

EN. 166F
Glasses certified according to the EN.166f standard must withstand the impact of a 22 mm diameter steel ball weighing 43 g dropped from a height of 1.3 m and impacting at a speed of 18 km/h. The lens must not shatter and must remain firmly seated in the frame, and the frame must remain undamaged.

EIGHT-LAYER LENSES
For maximum eye protection and to maintain perfect sharpness and clarity of vision, Wiley X lenses are composed of a total of eight protective layers.
» FILTER 8 - Reflections of sunlight from the water surface, as well as from other shiny surfaces (such as snow or glass), significantly increase eye fatigue, reduce visual sharpness, and distort vision. Therefore, one of the layers of Wiley X lenses is a polarizing filter - Filter 8 ™. It prevents reflected rays whose waves move in the horizontal plane from reaching the eyes. These are the ones that cause unpleasant glare. At the same time, the FILTER 8 ™ layer prevents the passage of all harmful UV radiation, which can otherwise cause pathological changes on the retina.

» SLICK - Both outer layers of Wiley X lenses are made from a hydrophobic blend. This means they actively repel water and ice. Thanks to special nanotechnology, the molecules of the hydrophobic layer are non-polar and do not bond with water molecules. As a result, water molecules are forced to bond with each other. Instead of a wet coating and stains on the glasses, larger water droplets form, which quickly run off the surface of the lenses and do not distort visual sharpness. Hydrophobic surfaces are also anti-static, meaning they repel dust and other impurities. Thanks to this, the lenses can be easily cleaned with a soft microfiber cloth, which is included with every pair of Wiley X glasses.

» T-SHELL - Two extra hardened layers in the form of a flexible film protect the lenses against scratches, surface cracks, or breakage. They increase the protective capability of Wiley X glasses, their durability, and visual sharpness.

» SELENITE - The two main protective layers of Wiley X lenses are made from polycarbonate, whose structure is composed of carbon and phenol atoms. These give the glasses up to ten times higher impact resistance than ordinary glass lenses. An advantage is also their low weight. The reliability and safety of Wiley X lenses are tested and certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Despite extreme strength, these lenses do not distort the image or reduce optical precision at all angles.

» VIOLET 4 - When light passes through the lens of the glasses, part of the light is reflected back from both the front and rear sides of the lens, causing unpleasant flashes that impair vision. The anti-reflective layer Violet 4 ™ is designed to limit or completely eliminate these reflections. The layer can also eliminate light brightness, which tires and strains the eyes. This function is appreciated by drivers, for example, who with Wiley X glasses can avoid glare from the sun or headlights of oncoming vehicles.

OLEOPHOBIC COATING
Wiley X uses a patented oleophobic coating on all Captivate lenses to create a smoother lens surface that helps prevent the adhesion of dust, dirt, oil, snow, and water. This helps prevent smudging and water spots, making the lenses much easier to clean.
